Au Bon Climat
Distinctive wines of vision and harmony. An homage to Burgundy, Au Bon Climat features many renditions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc, with balance and character critical elements in every wine. These wines age beautifully because of their balance and restraint. For older vintages or large format bottles, see menu.
Very fruit forward and unctous, this Chardonnay is rich and complex with a tropical coconut, pineapple character. It shows abundant fruit, oak, and viscosity along with a nice mineral component. Beautiful. Enjoyable now or be rewarded with further aging.
This vineyard has hit its stride producing marvelous Chardonnays year after year. On the palate, classic Chardonnay flavors of apple, citrus and vanilla go on and on. Serve with shellfish, Cornish game hen, or alfredo pasta with lobster. Scored 94 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 93 points Jeb Dunnuck; 92 points Wine Spectator.
Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is one of the great vineyards of the world. Au Bon Climat has been making Chardonnay from this vineyard since the 1980 vintage. Differentiating it from our annual Sanford & Benedict bottling, we used specially handcrafted Francois Freres barrels, and gave it extended barrel age to create this remarkable wine. 135 cases produced.
Part of our elite "Blue Series", Isabelle is comprised of only the best cuvees each vintage. Consequently, it is consistently our top performing Pinot Noir year to year. The 2016 is particularly dark, rich, and complex. Scored 96 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 94+ Jeb Dunnuck; 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
Outrageously beautiful. Sweet dark cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and blood orange all run through this racy, captivating Pinot. Vibrant and nuanced, with striking exoticism, the 2016 comes alive in the glass with tons of vibrancy and a level of purity that is hard to fully do justice to with words. Score 96 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
A refreshing, dry, blended white with citrus lemon/lime notes, flinty minerality, and crisp finish. It is richer than most light whites, yet so easy drinking! Great summer sippin' or match with shellfish, roast chicken, turkey or duck.
Every once in a while nature provides the substance for a truly remarkable wine. "Larmes de Grappe," or "Tears of the Whole Cluster," is one such wine. Amazing, Unbelievable, Mind-boggling -- We haven’t made the wine since 2005, Jim only makes it on select vintages when we can produce a high-quality 100% whole cluster pinot bottling. 2016 was the year & the wine was in new french oak for almost 2 years.
A beautifully crafted wine of earthy berry fruit and depth with the tight structure, spice and mineral notes singular to this vineyard location. It is a promising beauty needing more time to show off all it has to offer. Scored 94+ points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
This white blend is always fascinating, and this vintage's 50% Pinot Gris, 40% Pinot Blanc and 10% Aligoté combination offers warm rich aromas of hazelnut and crème brûlée that are cut by crushed chalk and lemon rind. It lands on the palate with a baked pastry warmth but then proves quite textural and taut with lime spray and herb flavors. Scored 94 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. BEST OF CLASS - Six Nation Wine Challenge.
Great value! This barrel fermented, full bodied Chardonnay has mouth filling citrus fruit and a palate cleansing, bright finish. It will become richer and more complex with age.
