Cool climate Viognier is hard to find in California. Le Bon Climat is truly cool climate, located on the edge of the Santa Maria Valley, providing ideal conditions for this varietal. The 2016 offers restrained melon, pear and honeysuckle notes along with excellent structure and balanced acidity. The viscosity is rich but understated.
2014 was one of our best years for this varietal. Fresh and exotic, with subtle rose petal and Asian fruit notes. It is not oily or unctuous but rather crisp and dry. This combined with an elegant sophistication makes it a delight in warm weather. It is also wonderful with spicy Thai cuisine or a pork roast. A classic.
From one of our best vineyard sources, this fleshy yet structured wine has a dark fruit character, such as plums and cherries along with the signature spice this location provides.
The Westall Vineyard is another vineyard that we having been using for a few years. In 2016 we made a limited number of cases that was first offered to the tasting room and wine club members. A few cases remain. It is lovely. This is a mid-weight Pinot with a fresh berry/cranberrry quality and subtle earthy tones.
Reminiscent of a white Burgundy from the 1990s, opening in the glass with notes of buttered apples, toasted macadamia nuts, vanilla, and toasty new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and glossy, clearly marked by its lees contact, with good length and grip on the flavorful finish. Score 94 points Jeb Dunnuck; Score 94 points Wine Spectator; Score 94 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; Score 93 points Robert Parker.
This is a rich, deep Pinot of substance. Cola and boysenberry aromas are evident and joined by mouth-filling flavors of plum and bitter chocolate on the palate.
This is a little known grape variety, the pink-skinned cousin of Grenache Blanc, that is grown in the south of France. It creates an easy drinking wine that has massive appeal, with structure and flavors not unlike an expensive White Hermitage with its stone fruit aromas. From Jim's estate in Los Alamos, the fruit is barrel fermented and aged briefly 8 months in neutral french oak. Since only 1 barrel was made, we are making this available to wine club members only.
This is a limited Club-only wine. Club members login to purchase.

Clean and crisp, the wine shows a combination of melon, pear and dried herbs with some smokiness from the barrel fermentation after the wine opens up.
