This not just another label, it is a project of passion for winemaker/owner Jim Clendenen. These are artisan, small lots of distinctive wines where commerce is not the driving force. These wines have the luxury to be in barrel as long as they need it (5 years for the Nebbiolo!). Wines that are nuanced, long lived, food-friendly, with firm acidities, and moderate alcohol. For older vintages, see menu.
A worthy little brother to our CFV "Le Bon Climat" Chard at half the price. This is a curvaceous wine offering apple, stone fruit and subtle tropical fruit aromas and flavors underscored by minerality.
This is the pink-skinned cousin of Grenache Blanc, that is grown in the south of France. It creates an easy drinking wine that has massive appeal, with structure and flavors not unlike an expensive White Hermitage with its stone fruit aromas. From Jim's estate in Los Alamos, the fruit is barrel fermented and aged briefly 8 months in neutral french oak. Scored 90 points Jeb Dunnuck.
Elegant and complex. A crisp, dry, floral white with aromas of green almond, honey and honey suckle, and flavors of apple and pear. Never had it before? Try it. You won't be disappointed! Ideal with shellfish and sole meuniere. Scored 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
This is our “reserve” Nebbiolo. The wine, though aged in barrel for five years, has fresh floral notes and shows wild strawberry and plum aromatics. The mouth filling texture accompanies dried cherry flavors which transition into a clean bright finish with good acid balance. Scored 93 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
Our best Viognier to date, is one of the best you'll find anywhere. The 2017 offers restrained melon, pear and honeysuckle notes along with excellent structure and balanced acidity. The viscosity is rich but understated. Truly regal. Serve with shellfish, roast chicken, and pastas with creamy white sauce. Scored 91 points Jeb Dunnuck.
Great value! Even though the wine is on the young side, the wine is complex suggesting dried cherries, blackberries with a touch of Santa Maria brush. Surprisingly rich in the mouth. Worth twice the price.
Sumptuous, creamy and wonderfully inviting. The natural density and weight of the vintage are evident, and yet the wine retains terrific balance to play off a core of orchard fruit, pineapple, passionfruit, oak toastiness and floral notes. Grown in Clendenen’s certified organic, home vineyard planted in 1998. Score 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate; 94 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous; 95 points Jeb Dunnuck.
Grown in Clendenen’s certified organic, home vineyard planted in 1998. Rich and powerful on the palate, the wine has considerable textural richness and resonance. Orchard fruit, mint, white flowers and honey are framed by new French oak in this super-expressive Chardonnay. Scored 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
Beautifully perfumed, with notes of sweet cherries, underbrush, cured meats and dried flowers. It is a medium-bodied wine, silky and polished on the palate, with a fabulous texture. Should drink well for a decade or more. Score 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.; 90 points Antonio Galloni's Vinous.
Our "reserve" Viognier is a luscious, viscous dry white. Subtle aromas of pear, stone fruit and honeydew melon are joined by white peach and tangerine blossom on the palate.
