2016 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard

Historic Vineyards Collection

This is a rich, deep Pinot of substance. Cola and boysenberry aromas are evident and joined by mouth-filling flavors of plum and bitter chocolate on the palate. Match with oak grilled chops.

Situated between two acclaimed appellations, the grapes in Los Alamos seem to have the best of both worlds; the long, cool growing season of Santa Maria, and the warmth of the Santa Ynez Valley, to ensure complete ripeness and depth. With warm days and very cold nights, the fruit from this region achieves incredible concentration and balance. Its slight, well drained soils and a wide range of microclimates allows for a diversity of varietals. The Pinot is very dense and meaty with a deep berry fruit character. It is a red to enjoy now but further aging will enhance the wine.

If you like Volnay from Burgundy, you will love this wine. I liked the way the wines structure grew as it aired. I had it with grilled venison tenderloin. A match made in heaven, or should I say California.
